Good stuff. Genocide isn't just about killing an entire group of people. It's about erasing their existence entirely from their identity, culture and history. Hence why it's critical to fight to preserve all of those things. #Sumud #FreePalestine #Gaza
It's an easy word nowadays to apply as-you-please, but we need hard defs. How do the numbers ( 40 something thousand (and growing), low number, 60 something thous. (and growing) high number, or super low number, applying the 2014 conflict overcount, 20,000 (I forget, but the final GHA count was like half the original Gaza Health Authority numbers) and subtracting natural deaths (5000) to come up with 15,000 )--how do the numbers compare, as a percentage of the (quite large) Gazan population to the six million Jews as a percentage of (the enormous numbers of) European Jewry, with the Jewish holocaust being our gold standard--one has to have a standard measure, that is--?
I won't get into whether the Gazaans are really a separate people than the West Bank Palestinians--do we count their numbers in this comparison? By now, after, what, seventy years, Jordan, Egypt, Arab Israelis and Middle Eastern-origin Jewry also can no longer be counted in as "one people" with Gaza to suggest that 15000? 67000? is just a small portion, but still we'd like YOU to give a proper comparison here before you just keep repeating this stuff.
