Those of us who've been part of the RP team for awhile are pretty familiar with what's been a long arc of change for the org, but it's cool to hear it summarized by Steve. I hope people in our extended family can appreciate the struggle involved in incorporating new info into the backbone of an educational org like RP. ✊
Steve is 🔥 in this solo episode. We live under a capitalist dictatorship not a democracy or constitutional republic which we can't vote out. Thus understanding #MMT while critical is useless without #ClassConsciousness in knowing who the current institutions serve.
The fact that RP is the only organization and Macro N Cheese is the only podcast incorporating the lens of MMT with a class analysis makes us unique. This evolution has occurred through learning about historical struggles of the working class. It’s been a critical change for the organization and individuals that have been along for the ride.
Gonna add that Powell also confirmed, lately, what Greenspan said. There is nothing stopping the USA from generating the money from thin air through legislation to fund anything. (Paraphrasing)
Of course, all this given the real resource are available to buy.

This is a story about many years of learning out loud. Lots of us say we'll follow facts, while sticking to facts that confirm what we already believe. Steve has allowed himself to be exposed to the hard truths. He's been forced to abandon comfortable illusions... And he's been doing it publicly. Intellectual integrity isn't about being right all the time. It's about being willing to be wrong.
Steve here gives an excellent explanation of the newly revised direction of our organization and the podcast. Informed by our studying both classical and contemporary Marxist theorists, unorthodox economists, and political historians and intellectuals, we recognize that MMT truth without class analysis isn’t enough, that we can’t vote our way out of oligarchy, and that we must advocate for building class consciousness and parallel institutions outside of “official channels.” We are with ya the whole way, brother.

I only discovered this podcast about a year ago by accident (one of your guests— believe it was Fedhel Kaboub—was on another show and the host mentioned yours in passing). Already, the evolution of the show during this period alone has been truly impressive.
The ruling class has had generations to shape the public's consciousness in its favor. It'll take a long time to undo that. Every effort to unravel the dominating narrative contributes to liberation.

More impact than you give yourself credit for! Econ wasn't even something I was interested in (even though I love to learn about pretty much everything), mainly bc it had all sounded like gobbledegook to me. And I thought I just didn't have it in me to comprehend it, like some people who "can't do math". But one episode on MMT and it all made sense to me (at least conceptually), including why it didn't before.

I believe in the ability of the collective energy around certain intentions to move events in a grand scale.
So, I also find that your solo’s publication was divinely synced to the call by Pope Leo’s call at the vigil to build peace.
The message also adds to never tire of praying - setting those intentions daily towards our common goals.
We are subject physics, after all. Nothing destroyed, all a matter of the current state of things. It all starts with our intention.
